Baby Care : Homemade Baby Food Storage

1.Storing in the Freezer – Option 1

Food Shelf life: Up to 3 months
You can freeze the baby food using ice cube trays. Once it’s frozen, you can transfer it in an airtight container, and then label the container with the name of the baby meal, and date.

2.Storing in the Freezer – Option 2

Food Shelf life: Up to 3 months
Are you looking for cute baby bibs in Malaysia? Bibs are important in keeping your baby clean, most especially while eating. You can also freeze your baby meals as “splats” on wax paper. Once frozen, you can store it in an airtight container. Don’t forget to label its container with the name of the food, and then the date. You can also settle for freezer-safe bags.

3.Storing Baby Food inside the Refrigerator

Baby Shelf life: Up to 2 days
It is also highly recommended to store your baby’s pureed food in single servings in order to make sure it is safe. This can also simplify baby meal time for you. Portion the food into clean, empty food containers with lids. This way, homemade baby food storage would be a lot easier for you.

4.Thawing Frozen Baby Food

To thaw frozen baby food safely, see to it that you are following one of the approaches below. The following guidelines ensure that the food is safe when reheating and defrosting. The meal must be served with 48 hours after defrosting.

  • Defrost the baby food in the microwave oven. Place all the frozen splats or puree curbs on a microwave-safe container, and then choose the “defrost” microwave setting. Rotate and stir the food often.
  • Defrost in the refrigerator. Put the splats or frozen puree cubes on your little one’s serving dish. Cover it, and place inside the refrigerator the entire night.
  • Water bath. Place the sealed frozen purees bags in a basin of warm water. After defrosting, portion the baby food in individual bowls. Refrigerate until serving.
